Not incredibly boring, but not too fancy either! They also have a country name generator for your regions. Here's an example of some names it came up with: Strongcliff In SimCity 4, you dont just build your city, you breathe life into it. I mostly use online name generators for this. ![]() ![]() You only have a few options, sell it to a neighbour who then has to deal with it, burn in for energy (thus creating air pollution), create a landfill that endlessly grows, or chuck if off the side of the map! I'll be chosing the last option, made possible by the PEG Garbage Chute. Or "Modifications" if you prefer the long form of the word. The solution is limiting the game to using only one CPU: -CPUCount:1 The game is known to crash if you have more than one CPU core available. While we're here, we can turn off the intro (because if you play this game as much as me, you don't need to see it more than once): -intro:off Whether you use it to build underpasses, the entrance to tunnels or even an entire city under sea-level like in the Netherlands, this tool makes is a breeze. Watch as thousands of new model cars roam the streets on their way to work. In SimCity 4, you’ll have to install this Hole Digging Lots mod by Smoncrie, which simply introduces a lot programmed to dig a 1-lot hole, along with another set to create a 1-lot hill. ![]() It brings more modern cars into the game so that there are more of a variety and real-life image to the streets. The 32 at the end specifies colour depth, and is required. This video shows a review of the civilian cars mod If you are sick and tired of seeing the same cars over and over, download this mod. For my 1920x1080 screen, I'll add the following to my Steam Launch Options for the game: -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 Since the days of the 1280x1024 monitor are well past, I'll need to enable a custom resolution (as there are a limited number of options available in-game). Setting Launch Parameters Changing Game Resolution Improved CDROM timing accuracy, bugs and change disc problems. There's going to be "cheats" and "mods" because there are some aspects of the game that I don't want to deal with or that are problamatic in the long run (looking at you, landfills!). 4) Run ePSXe202 from Applications to create the config files. I'm compiling a list of things that I like to do to get my installation runnning the way I like it. This also would have been the era of Windows XP, so it's quite surprising that the game even runs properly on Windows 10, 16 years later! Although, my CD copies of the game no longer work, as once of the discs is scrathed, I've purchased it on Steam instead. My first copy of this game came on two CDs (yes, two!). I would have only been three years old at the time. Although, I still play somewhat older games, such as SimCity 4 Deluxe, from late 2003. Sometimes it felt like they just made the game too big, they couldn't get every little thing too work perfect, but over all it runs smooth enough.I wouldn't consider myself a gamer, even though I've built my own computer, have Steam installed on it, or because I own an aging PS3. Also the feature that allows you to pick citizins to track is on one hand very helpful and a great idea, but most of what they say is useless and they try to lay a guilt trip on you for not catering to there every need.īut the game is huge and you can spend days working on it, it is very addicting! Alot of micromanaging though, so if that is not your bag you will get bored pretty quick. This was very frusterating and I could never seem to avoid the problem or fix it entirely. The only issue I had and maybe it was just my lack of city designing knowledge, but I alays ended up with huge traffic conjestion problems. You can have one collect all the garbage from the other, or one be the industrial or commercial city, while another as maybe a suburb. The feature I like the best was how the towns can work togethor. The replay value is extremly high, since you can just start over when ever you want, or just keep building towns if you get bored with the one your working on. Either way it is very rewarding and chalenging. ![]() This is where the game seperates you from either a determined player or one that simply loses interest. Like all the sim games it is easy to get excited at first when you start your city, but once the challenges start piling up it can get frusterating, you just can't seem to turn the corner at some point.
